Pongam Tree(Karanje) in Summer We have two near my house on our road, that we we planted many years ago with Exxnora assisitance, in our "Greening Project"-
Beautiful shining Green leaves --even in the heat-have such a cooling look at and are so shady. Most valued in Summer, but beautiful always.---
The `Pongam Tree` is cultivated in gardens and as avenue trees on roads in India grows easily -little effort only. Even grows wild in the coastal forests throughout India and beside the streams and rivers.
Botanical sources also confirm:
The tree is well suited to intense heat and sunlight and its dense network of lateral roots and its thick, long taproot make it drought tolerant.
Flowering: March-April.
