THE BANYAN TREE -Part 2.

PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN BY ME  OF THE BANYAN  TREE AT SAN THOME, CHENNAI -
About 3 km from my residence -there are several old Banyan Trees .
On The South side is Theosophical Society, the famous Giant Banyan is seen.

In the Srimad Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna states in Chp 10
Of all trees I am the banyan tree (10.26)


The Banyan Tree is also  referred  -called Ashwattha -Banyan - analogy of Tree of Life relating to the Perishable-Kshara - Illusion and Imperishable Akshara and behind all that the final- the ultimate Purushottama -Creator.

GITA Chp 15 Sokha No 1 
sri-bhagavan uvaca
urdhva-mulam adhah-sakham
ashvattham prahur avyayam
chandamsi yasya parnani
yas tam veda sa veda-vit
Translation: The Blessed Lord said, “There is a banyan tree which has its roots upward and its branches down and whose leaves are the Vedic hymns. One who knows this tree is the knower of the Vedas.”
